Welcome
Here I would like to show you what we went trough during hurricane Dean just a week ago at the Sunscape Puerto Aventuras.
How the management of the resort withheld the information ,misinformed people before, during and after the evacuation.

...just sit down and read
I just came back from that place.
We were there during hurricane Dean, the upper management team did
terrible job communicating with the guests before during and after the
evacuation of the hotel .I spent 5 hours living in the lobby of the hotel 08.20.2007
until someone makes the decision about evacuation, than night in the gated
junior school by Chechen Itza sleeping in the auditorium on the floor
between the cheers.
I will ask you some questions:
Were you ever evacuated to the shelter ,were you withheld the
information about the hurricane? Were you told you can not leave the room
without the escort even if you wanted to go to the bathroom?
I had an access
to the life image of the hurricane I was in contact with the hotel, why
the team from the resort did not want to give us any info about the
resort status? They were giving miss information about the airport in
Cancun if is it open or not (some people needed to go back home) .By the way
the airport was open.
That information was given to us by the Mayor who came to visit us.
I asked him for help to find out the status of the hotel because your employees could not provide this information to us.
It is just too bad you were not there when Alejandro Oritz
Entertainment Manager was talking to the guests in a very impolite way about what
time we will be leaving the shelter. We saw buses arriving to take us back before 16:00 he insisted to let us go at 16:30.
Enrico Pinzano Food Beverage Manager also did not show us his
leadership ,when I confronted him with a difficult questions.I had access to the mobile phone with a life picture of the hurricane and I was reading the news from the Internet also I called the hotel so I knew what was going on.
Both men were
from Dreams Resort .We also saw Adrian Ibarra from Sunscape Puerto
Aventura at the shelter but he never talked to us,why ? No idea. All guests
were from Sunscape not from Dreams Resort.
On the day when we were going to leave only Mrs. Hayde Becelis showed
some understanding of the difficult situation and she was more
professional towards the guests.
The process of leaving the shelter had to be taken over by the guests
,the "Entertainment Team" could not organized it in the efficient way to
do it fast.
When we came back to the hotel the main pool was flooded with sand and debris, beach was half gone,no
sand just the rocks left.
I think withholding information, misinforming costumers is not the way
they should act.
I still will say the upper management especially Mr.G Gautier General
Manager should come out and talk to the guests he did not do that.
He sent the entertainment guy to talk to us. I personally asked to talk
to him about the situation ,he sent Ms Claudia an assistant to talk to
me instead.I tried to help him but he did not understand.
I think he should be handling this situation in more professional
way.Do they do any drills for this kind of situations, they life there they
should know. Also we saw people from the resort photographing people
during the evacuation and making movies what guests were doing in the
shelter,why ,what for ? I still do not know,even I asked,did not get the
answer.
They constantly were talking about the Government, the Government told
them to do this to do that ,maybe the movie was for the Government to
show how good they took care of the international guests.
Everyone was saying a different story,we leave at noon, than at14:00
than 16:00.
People were told we will go to the gymnasium,we ended up sleeping on
the floor between the chairs in the auditorium ,they told us they were
preparing this place for 2 days and still they did not have mattresses
for us to sleep on.Instead we had a carpeted floor for
all-inclusive vacation.
I have to agree nobody got hurt they did what they could.
Again my issue is what the management did just before ,during and after
evacuation. That is the problem and they should act differently during
this kind of emergency.
we slept here
Will managment change their approch to the costumers?
I just wished that General Manager would came out ,even after we arrived back to the hotel and talked to us,explained to us why all that happened.
If he would offered us some explanations, some gesture of appreciation everybody would be more understanding.
I am very disappointed that they did not posted any information in the lobby to let us know what is going on after the hurricane.
I traveled a lot in my life but I never experienced such ignorance to their own guests by the management of the hotel.
Finally in my opinion this resort is not on my neither on many different guest list to visit this place ever again.
Alejandro Zozaya-Gorostiza the President of AMResorts Company should apologize to all costumers who were there during the Hurricane Dean for mishandling the whole situation by the General Manager of the Sunscape Puerto Aventura and offer some reimbursment .
Right now there are offering $100 off for the next vacation at their place...wow, is it that nice.

Sand is gone

one of the "Camp David" survivors said...
You had carpeting? We did not. We slept on a sheet on a concrete floor with one blanket and a pillow. There were lizards, beetles and some wormy looking insects crawling on the floor where we were to sleep. We had about 30 people in a 20 x 20 concrete building. We also were not told where we were being shipped to - even though I had asked several 'helpers.' I had no way of telling my family where they were sending my daughter and me.
The first evening we were told, "Eat! Now!" When we were led outside to the food site, the buns were full of green mold. There were flies all over the food. I was told of several people who became ill with vomiting and diarrhea the next day.
Tuesday morning, at 7 a.m. they came in, flipped on the lights (remember the room was completely dark because the windows were boarded up). They woke us up for no reason. There was no news and so we had to sit there again for hours.
When we returned to the hotel, I spoke with staff from two hotels in the same area who said they were not evacuated. People were told to stay in their rooms. Could we not have been divided up into the other hotels?
Guess what some guests (French group)were transfered to the different hotel so next day they could fly back to France
